You’re pregnant, or recently had a baby, congratulations!

You’re starting to realise that you could probably benefit from the guidance of an experienced, local doula to help you through pregnancy, birth and those early days and weeks with your newborn.

Expecting twins and you don’t have a clue what your new life will look like or how you’ll feed them.

I’ll walk you through everything you need to know for the big day and what comes next, making sure you feel excited, and ready to cope in any situation.

It’s normal to have some worries both in pregnancy and the precious postnatal period

Right now you don’t know how you’ll cope with the pain even though you’d love an unmedicated birth and you dread the thought of having loads of unnecessary interventions.

You worry about how your partner will be during your labour, concerned about your pain and trying to fix it, rather than being a calm and confident presence who can advocate for you.

You don’t know why your baby is crying and gassy all the time and won’t let you put them down. You worry there’s something wrong with them or you’re not making enough milk.

With my help we can get you

from:

You’ve read all the books and done all the birth prep, but your partner doesn’t seem to really get what you want or how to best support you, with the birth you have chosen.

to:

Your partner takes over by being your space keeper and advocate during labour and birth, no matter how you decide to meet your baby. You’ll remain in your calm labour bubble, at one with your baby, ready to welcome them to the world.

from:

You’ve never held a baby before, let alone changed a nappy or seen a baby breastfeed.

to:

You’ll be confident holding your baby, looking after their bottom and be ready to tackle any feeding issues that arise.

from:

You don’t know whether a full doula package is necessary for you, but are craving 1-2-1 time with someone in whose experience you can trust.

to:

You find my in-person, private workshops, tailored to you, that give you all the information you need with a local, experienced doula.

Birth Support in North London

Birth Support

Emotional, practical, and physical support during pregnancy, labour and birth. Whether you’re planning a home birth, a hospital birth or caesarean or expecting twins, as a trusted presence, I’ll be there to help you navigate your options, advocate for your wishes, and help create a calm, positive birth environment.

Planning to deliver your baby/twins by Caesarean, and feeling like you no longer have any options? That isn’t the case. You can still make your birth feel more personal and I will teach you lots of strategies to help you remain calm and relaxed throughout the whole process. We also cover some Hypnobirthing techniques that can help you achieve a positive birth experience, regardless of how you’re planning to meet your baby.

  • Antenatal Preparation

Two in-person antenatal birth preparation sessions, usually 2 hours each.
    During these sessions we will:

    • Get to know each other and plan for how we will work as a team

    • Explore different labour and birth scenarios, so you know what all your options are

    • Help you prepare your birth plan and delve deep into what is important to you, what you’d like to avoid and what you’d like on your “wish list”

    • Cover comfort techniques for labour and birth, involving some massage techniques, which I would teach to your partner, as well as positions for labour, what to expect, and how to get the baby in the optimal position for a successful birth (using a rebozo or Spinning Babies ® techniques)

    • Ensure your partner gains confidence in his/her role and is armed with lots of useful tips and tricks to support you, as we work together as a tag team

    • What to take to hospital, what to buy for you and your baby, and anything else you feel you’d like to know

    • Make a postnatal plan

    • As I am also an antenatal teacher and Hypnobirthing practitioner, I will draw from my extensive knowledge during our sessions and make sure you have a good understanding of what to expect, what you and your partner can do during labour to help you cope, what questions to ask and how to relax for a more comfortable and positive birth.

Dad’s online workshop - in this 1-hour video call just for your partner, I ensure they feel ready to support you in every way. I will give them the opportunity to talk about and work through any worries and fears they may have about how you’ll cope during labour, how to resist the urge to ‘fix it’ and best support you, what being a dad means to them, how they can bond with your baby, and how they can really show up in theirnew role for both you and your new baby.

Bonus 2 Hour Get Breastfeeding Off to the Best Start Workshop (Worth £195)

    Support throughout labour

I go on-call for you 2 weeks before your due date, up-to you going into labour. I’m available 24/7 and will answer any calls / texts straight away should you think you are in labour.  I will be offering support by phone in early labour, to ensure you are coping and once you feel you are progressing and need me with you, I will come to your house.

During your labour I will respond to your needs and offer emotional, physical and practical support.  This can include a massage, foot rub,  acupressure to stimulate various points to help contractions become more productive or for pain relief, use of a Rebozo, to help release any tension and to help the baby move into an optimal position, the use of aromatherapy oils to help calm nerves, ease nausea, help you pee, and to help with contractions.

    image|labour comfort|#

This is all part of the doula hat that I wear, but first and foremost I am there to offer emotional support, to hold you, reassure you and just be there for you and your partner in whatever way you need on the big day.

Once your baby is born, I will help protect your ‘Golden bubble’, ensuring your baby is kept with you, on your chest, skin-to-skin so that you can begin bonding and have the first breastfeed, undisturbed by midwives.

    Postnatal Support

    • Ongoing phone support during your stay in the postnatal ward until you are discharged.

    • One 2-hour home visit, in the first days you are back home, to support you with breastfeeding, debrief your birth and answer any questions you have as a new parent.

  • image|positive caesarean|#

Two antenatal workshops, one video call with Partner/Dad-to-be, support during your caesarean and one postnatal visit once you’re back home.

    Antenatal Preparation

Two workshops to make you feel comfortable and prepared for your c-section.

    Parents’ Workshop

Our 3 hour workshop will help you feel informed, confident and supported in your birth journey. Together we will cover:

    • All the things to consider and the steps you can take to prepare for a positive cesarean birth experience, such as creating a calm atmosphere for birth in theatre, seeding your baby’s microbiome, delayed cord clamping,  enabling skin to skin in theatre, and much more

    • What exactly happens during a cesarean birth. From getting ready for surgery, the birth itself, once your baby is born, how many people will be in theatre, to what happens afterwards

    • How to release any fears that may be associated with a caesarean birth

    • How to relax deeply and quickly using breathing techniques and visualisations

    • Recovery - top tips

    • Writing your cesarean birth plan

    • Create a postnatal plan to ensure you are fully prepared to care for your baby or babies. Reflect on which aspects of becoming a mother feel the most daunting to you, and consider ways to gently recover from surgery while also feeling nurtured and supported.

Dad’s online workshop (same as in Birth Doula Package above)

    Attendance at your birth

As your doula I will join you in hospital before you go in for your cesarean and help facilitate you having a calm and positive experience, using all the techniques we have discussed antenatally. I will ensure your partner remains calm and remind them of the relaxation strategies they can use for you. Please note that the majority of hospitals only allow one person into theatre to support mum.  This is usually your partner, unless I am your primary birth companion.

After the birth I will join you in recovery (if i’m allowed) or the postnatal ward, help get you settled with your baby, and support you with breastfeeding.

    1x 2hr Postnatal Visit

Led by you and your baby.  I will be focussing on both of you whilst you feed your newborn, observing their latch and maybe adjusting their position at the breast, asking you about how it’s all going and answering any questions you may have.

Postnatal Support in North London

Postnatal Support

Perhaps you don’t have family nearby to support you in the early weeks after birth, or you don’t particularly want family giving you their well-intentioned, but unwanted advice, then I’m the person for you.  As a mum myself, and an experienced doula, , I will help you gently adjust to life in the postpartum period so you feel nurtured, physically supported and heard. I can provide practical, unbiased support to help you and your partner adjust to life with your newborn.

I’ll help you identify your baby’s needs so you can learn to read their cues. I’ll show you how to look after your baby, including bathing, swaddling, comforting, and how to use a sling. I can also attend any appointments you may have with your baby.

I’ll give you lots of breastfeeding tips & tricks, and if you want to give the occasional bottle, I’ll give suggestions on expressing milk, bottle feeding, the preferred bottles to buy, which pump is best, and much more.

  • image|nurturing|#

45 hours of support (each session to be booked for a minimum of 3 hours, to be used within 6 weeks of your birth)

The early days and weeks with your baby/ies, also known as the fourth trimester, is a special time when you should be focussing on resting and healing, getting used to catching an hour or two of sleep here and there, taking things slowly and spending time (preferably the first week) in bed learning all about your baby, their cues and how to feed them. Kindly ask family and friends to wait a week or two before visiting. I can help you ease into your life as a mum and be there for you in any way you need by doing any of the following and more:

    • Make you a cuppa and sit down to listen to how things have been going.

    • Observe breastfeeding and offer tips for adjusting positioning for comfort.

    • Answer all your questions and ensure your baby is feeding well.

    • Take over looking after your baby so you can have a shower, rest, and eat.

    • Empty the dishwasher, hang up a load of laundry, and put another on.

    • Prepare a healthy snack or meal for you.

    • Show you how to bathe and settle your baby.

    • Provide reassurance, cheer you up, and remind you of the great job you're doing.

Bonus Get Breastfeeding Off to the Best Start - (One antenatal & postnatal session are included in this package worth £190)

Due to high demand for my postnatal services, I would suggest you book in early to secure my services and avoid disappointment.  Please do make this clear if you want to hire me as I get very busy.

Additional hours can be added. See Ad Hoc Postnatal Hours.

  • Maybe your baby is a couple of weeks old, everything was going fine and now you're finding it hard to cope.  You’re completely exhausted, your partner has returned to work and you could really do with a listening ear, a helping hand and someone to give you some advice and reassurance.

    Does this sound like you?

These are just some of the things I can help you with as your postnatal doula.  From preparing a meal, putting the laundry on, tidying up, taking the baby out for a walk whilst you sleep, I will make these days easier for you.  I’ll mother you and make sure I leave you with a big smile on your face!

If you’ve given birth to twins or multips, you’re likely facing greater challenges and may need help coming up with a feeding plan and breastfeeding support.

    • Understanding how newborns feed and what life for you in the first days and weeks will look like

    • How often should your baby be feeding?

    • Dealing with painful feeds and sore nipples

    • Gassy, unhappy and difficult to settle baby

    • How and when to express milk so that a bottle can be given

    • When and how to introduce bottles

    • Mixed feeding with breast and formula milk

    • Feeding and introducing solids

For complex feeding issues I will refer you to an IBCLC or a Tongue Tie specialist.

Please send me a text message on 07446 936996 if you need urgent help, so that I can prioritise you and fit you in around other clients that I am supporting.

  • image|breastfeeding-workshop|#

Ideal for when you are 36 weeks pregnant. A 2 hour session in the comfort of your home. Your partner is welcome to join, so that they can learn lots of useful tips too!  They will be the one with you every day and night once you’re home, so it’s important that they know what to look out for, what’s a good latch, remind you of which side you last fed from when you’re too exhausted to remember.

    We will cover:

    • How milk production works and what you can do before your baby arrives to ensure you have milk for your newborn.

    • How to hand express and collect your colostrum, so that you are familiar with the technique before your baby arrives and hopefully will have built up a small stash

    • Useful tips for ensuring good positioning and attachment at the breast

    • How to know your baby is getting enough milk, and how this changes during the first days and weeks

    • Realistic expectations of the first few weeks of life with a newborn

    • If you’re expecting twins or multips we can go over how you plan to feed your babies, what to expect and how to overcome the most common feeding hurdles mothers face.

I will then come for a postnatal visit, as soon as is convenient after the birth of your baby.

I will observe a feed and might make suggestions to improve positioning and attachment to ensure your baby is removing milk efficiently and you are not in pain.

During this time we can also work through some of the following:

    • Understanding how newborns feed and what life for you in the first days and weeks will look like

    • How often should your baby be feeding?

    • Gassy, unhappy and difficult to settle baby

    • When and how to introduce bottles

    • Mixed feeding with breast and formula milk
